Grand Ledge First UMC is excited to offer ministries and programs to youth in grades 5 through 12. All persons are welcome to join us
on Sunday afternoons as we learn, experience, and practice Christianity.

We offer a holistic approach to Christian discipleship through a variety of activities including service projects, worship gatherings,
fun and fellowship events.
Our ministry to and with young people is:
- Christ-Centered
- Spirit-Driven
- Family-Friendly
- Faith-Equipping
During the school year, several groups meet including separate times for middle and high school youth.
Activities typically occur on Sunday afternoons, although concerts, retreats, overnights at other churches and service opportunities
happen as schedules allow.
Youth Activities this year include the following:
- 5th/6th Fellowship meets once a month on Sunday afternoon from 4-5:15. We learn about the symbols of the church, play games, have a snack
and do something good for someone else.
Skate Wednesday
- This activity meets every Wednesday from 3-4:30 p.m. followed by dinner at Community Meal.
We skateboard and play games outside for an hour and then go to the youth room for snacks, a classic youth group game and a lesson. Everyone in
grades 7 and up welcome.
Youth Worship and Dinner
- Once a month all youth in grades 5th and up are invited to a worship service designed for young people. We worship from 12:30-2:00pm
which will include dinner together.
Confirmation
- For students in 7th grade and older who want to take their faith a little deeper and make commitments to follow Jesus Christ with their
whole life, we offer classes, retreats, mentoring and other events twice a month. See Pastor Molly or Pastor Greg if
you are interested.
Service Projects
- We offer several local or close-distance service opportunities throughout the year including leaf raking, shoveling, projects at church camps,
and serving the homeless and needy. Each year we also take a trip to Chicago to work with the outreach programs of the Jesus People USA and go a
little further from home to help repair homes and lives. Recently, we've been to Mississippi, Tennessee and Northern Michigan. These are great
opportunities for youth and adults to work together. Contact Pastor Greg if you would like to know more.
Complete schedules, permission slips, and additional information on how to become more involved are
available by contacting
Beth and Dave Schuchaskie.
Current activities and information can be found in our monthly edition of the
Chimes Newsletter.
